MIAMI TWP, OH (FOX19) - Authorities arrested two people, including the home owner, for an overnight home invasion and robbery Monday morning.

Deputies were summoned to the 7700 block of Buffalo Ridge Road in Miami Township about 12:30 a.m., according to the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office.

Kyle Hughes, 26, and home owner Paul Koren, 70, who deputies say is the victim, were arrested for possession of drugs, trafficking in drugs and cultivation of marijuana.

Three suspects including Hughes “made entry” to the residence, including two brandishing handguns, sheriff’s officials say.

Hughes and the other suspects fled in an unknown direction with the Koren’s “personal effects," police say.

Koren suffered minor injuries.

Officials say Hughes and his accomplices assaulted Koren by ‘pistol whipping’ him. They also tried to use zip ties on his arms and legs to tie him to his bed.

The suspects ransacked the house in search of drugs and money, officials say.

The two other suspects fled into a wooded area near the back of the home, police say.

A search of the area with a K-9 was unsuccessful but deputies found Hughes hiding in a basement freezer that was unplugged.

He was taken to the Hamilton County Justice Center for treatment.

Koren was also taken to the justice center.

The other two suspects haven not been caught.
