CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19) - Things appear to be heating up in the Cincinnati Bengals' search for a new head coach.

Earlier this week, FOX19 reported that the Bengals would look for an outside hire with an offensive background.

On Thursday, the latest round of tweets from the NFL rumor mill definitely named a “favorite” fitting that description -- Zac Taylor.

Taylor was the offensive coordinator for the University of Cincinnati in 2016.

He currently serves as the LA Rams' QB coach. If a team were to be looking to find the next Sean McVay, the league’s hottest coach, there are worse places to look.

Someone even went as far as to name him the official head coach of the Bengals on Wikipedia:

The Bengals don’t intend to make any sort of announcement until the Rams' playoff run is complete.

Bengals team officials flew out to California this past Friday to interview Taylor.

On Thursday, several assistant coaches met with the Bengals' front office to learn whether they would return to the team, a source confirmed to FOX19.
