Police ask for tips after 5 guns stolen from Middletown storage facility

MIDDLETOWN, OH (FOX19) - A theft case at a Middletown self-storage facility is being investigated by police after a victim said five guns were taken from his unit.

“They apparently cut through the back fence, so they said, and come through took a bunch of tools, personal belongings and some weapons that I had hid in there,” Robert Campbell said.

According to the police report, the theft occurred on Tuesday at a storage facility along Oxford State Road in Middletown. Campbell says five guns were taken from his unit and raised concerns over the Middletown Police Department’s response.

“They kind of blew it off at first thinking it was a break-in. I called dispatch twice and told them, 'You need to get an officer out here, he needs to talk to me, I had guns in this unit,’” Campbell said. “That should have been a top priority. You know, there were guns in there, now they’re out here on the streets.”

Middletown police say the report was filed on Tuesday and detectives were given the case on Wednesday and are looking into the theft. Among the weapons taken were two rifles and three handguns. Anyone with information on the theft is asked to contact the Middletown Police Department.
