CINCINNATI, OH (WXIX) - The Reds have acquired New York Yankees right-handed starting pitcher Sonny Gray.

The Reds acquired Gray and left-handed Reiver Sanmartin in exchange for infield prospect Shed Long and a draft pick. Gray also signed a contract extension to stay in Cincinnati after the upcoming season. The deal is through the 2022 season with a club option in 2023.

Gray was an all-star for the Oakland Athletics in 2015 with a 2.73 earned-run-average in 31 starts.

With the Yankees, Gray’s numbers have dropped a bit posting a 3.55 ERA in 2017 and a 4.90 ERA in 2018.
