CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19) - Cincinnati police have released a sketch of a man they say is accused of attempting to rape a young woman as she was leaving her apartment in College Hill.
The victim, who is still terrified, did not want to be identified but tells FOX19 the attack happened on Faircrest Drive early in the morning of Jan. 27.
“I was leaving for work and I see this guy standing around but I didn’t see what he was doing," she said.
She says she hurried and tried to get into her car, but the door was stuck from the cold weather. While she struggled to open the car door that’s when the man approached her, starting the next battle.
“He grabbed me from the back and like tried to slam me up against the car and bend me over and he pulled out his stuff,” she said.
She says while he tried to pull down her pants, she kept kicking him in the shin and fighting to break free.
“I was screaming, I was asking for help, you know, saying ‘Rape, someone’s trying to rape me,' and it’s like he knew no one would hear me," she said.
She says the man never said a word, but that he kept smiling and laughing. She says the man was very strong, but she was eventually able to get into her car and drive away.
“It was crazy. I couldn’t believe I was going through it but I believe this guy has done it plenty of times before,” she said.
This past August, a neighbor across the street also had to fight off a man who police say tried to rape her. The man was never caught and police are not saying that the incidents are connected. The neighbor says though the sketches look different the approach was the same.
"This is something that traumatizes me every night. You are a sick person and you need help," said the victim.
Though she says she couldn’t get a good look at the man’s face, the victim says she is ready if he comes back.
“I’m not going to let this guy scare me so I’m going to stay strong and keep myself guarded. If you think you’re going to come get me next time. I got something for you," she said.
The man is described as a black male in his 20s or 30s with poor oral hygiene. Police say he had on a dark coat over an orange hooded sweatshirt. Anyone with information is asked to call Cincinnati police at 513-352-6942 or Crimestoppers at 513-352-3040.
