HAMILTON, OH (FOX19) - A woman accused of stealing items off of porches in Hamilton is now facing criminal charges.
The woman, who was caught on camera seemingly stealing off of someone’s porch in Hamilton, is believed to be the same woman a Park Avenue family caught sneaking around their home and stealing their belongings.
“She got caught in the act by me and on video, so there’s no way she’s getting out of it," said Dawn Compton.
Around 4 a.m. on Thursday, Compton and her family members heard a commotion outside. They said they found a woman snooping around their property with a trash can full of stuff. They scared her off and then called police.
“She left the bin behind, so we grabbed it and put it up here," said Compton.
While officers were at the scene, the woman was spotted again. Police said that the woman admitted that she had been stealing items off of nearby porches.
“Why would somebody think that it’s OK to take people’s valuables, say it’s a sentimental piece?" said Dylan Hensley, a victim.
Neighbors said the woman had taken items ranging from clothes to a small rug to a cat’s litter box.
“Clean, new one. We hadn’t brought it in yet," said Compton. "That’s what the cops have against her right now until other people claim (items).”
Police have since identified the woman as 42-year-old Mandy Kay Price. She was arrested and is now facing theft charges.
Compton’s family believes that Price went on a stealing spree, and they hope calling attention to it will get it to stop.
Compton said she and her loved ones are looking into installing security cameras outside their home.
Hamilton Police said they currently have one police report on file connected to the case. They are asking anyone who is a potential victim to contact them at 513-868-5811.
