State correctional officer in Warren County arrested on drug charges
Daniel Garvey has been arrested on charges of illegal conveyance of drugs, trafficking in drugs, and possession of drugs.

BUTLER COUNTY, OH (FOX19) - A correctional officer at a state prison in Warren County is currently in the Butler County Jail, according to the Butler County Sheriff’s Office.

28-year-old Daniel Garvey works at the Warren Correctional Institution off Ohio 63 in Turtlecreek Township, sheriff’s officials said.

He was booked into the jail Friday afternoon on charges of illegal conveyance of drugs, trafficking in drugs, and possession of drugs, jail records show.

Garvey appeared in court on Tuesday and his bond was set at $15,000.

The details of what lead up to the arrest have not yet been released, but the Ohio State Highway Patrol, which investigates crimes at prisons, handled the case, according to the sheriff’s office.

A spokesperson for the Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Correction says Garvey has been an employee since April 2015.

He is scheduled to make a second court appearance at 1 p.m. on Wednesday.

Garvey currently remains behind bars.
