CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19) - The Tri-State will dry out on Thursday, but not for long. Rain will return late Friday evening and continue from time to time into early morning Sunday.

NOAA’s Storm Prediction Center says that for the 24-hour period from 7 a.m. Saturday to 7 a.m. Sunday there is the risk of heavy-to-severe thunderstorms from Cincinnati southwestward to eastern Texas.

The chance is only small but this system is worth watching especially Saturday afternoon and evening as a vigorous cold front approaches from the west.

In addition, rainfall around Cincinnati could total 3 inches in spots over the weekend and bring more short-term, small-scale flooding.

Because rainfall will be heavy over a large area upstream from here that drains into the Ohio River, it is again on the rise. Flood stage in Cincinnati is 52’ and the Ohio River Forecast Center says the Ohio will be within a foot of flood stage from Sunday at least into late Monday and maybe longer.
