CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19) - One man was killed in a motorcycle crash in Whitewater Township Wednesday night.
Hamilton County Sheriff Jim Neil says the accident happened on the ramp from westbound I-74 to southbound I-275 at 6:05 p.m.
Robert Cogswell, 56, of Dillsboro, Indiana, was riding 2001 Harley Davidson on the ramp in the right lane.
Witnesses tell the sheriff’s office that Cogswell changed lanes and accelerated past slower moving traffic.
As he entered a right-bound curve, Cogswell’s motorcycle traveled off the left side of the road and onto the soft shoulder.
The sheriff says Cogswell was not able to maintain control of his motorcycle and it tipped onto its side.
Cogswell suffered fatal injuries as he was thrown from the motorcycle.
He was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash, according to the sheriff’s office.
Alcohol and/or drugs are not believed to have contributed to the crash, although speed may have, said the sheriff.
The crash remains under investigation by the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office Traffic Safety Unit.
