CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19) - In an effort to provide a healthy complement to traditional ballpark fare, the Reds and Sportservice have introduced a fresh fruit stand at Great American Ball Park.
The stand is located just inside the main ballpark entrance gates at Crosley Terrace, and offers many fresh fruits, including apples, bananas, oranges, peaches, pears and nectarines. Fresh fruit cups, apple chips and caramel apples are also available. Prices start at $1.50 each.
"We are very excited to partner with the Reds on this healthy addition to the menu at Great American Ball Park," said Don Dierig, Sportservice's general manager. "I have kids of my own, so I know many parents will appreciate having fresh fruit as another option at the ballpark."
Earlier this season, the New York Yankees and New York Mets debuted similar fruit carts. Yankee Stadium has one cart and Citi Field has two.
"We continue to benchmark other teams and look for innovative ideas to bring to Great American Ball Park," said Phil Castellini, Reds COO. "It's another way to make the ballpark more fan friendly, and also an opportunity to incorporate the Findlay Market brand, which like the Reds, is iconic to Cincinnati.
The fresh fruit stand will be available at all remaining 2009 home games and for the entire 2010 season.
