KENTON COUNTY, KY (FOX19) - The Northern Kentucky Health Department is reporting that a woman in her mid 50's has died from medical complication with the H1N1 virus.
The woman's name has not been released.
"The loss of any of our residents is always a tragedy and our thoughts go out to the individual's family, " said Dr. Steven Katkowosky, Director of Health. "Influenza is a serious illness that can lead to serious complications and even death as it did in this case."
This is the first death in the Northern Kentucky region associated with H1N1.
In Kentucky, there have been 15 deaths associated with the virus. Nationwide between August 30 and October 24, there have been over 2,900 pneumonia and influenza syndrome- based deaths have been reported to the CDC.
