CINCINNATI (AP) - Voters have approved renewal of a tax levy that will help pay for upkeep of a museum housed in Cincinnati's grand former train station.
More than one million people visit the Museum Center at Union Terminal in Cincinnati each year. The renewal of part of an existing 2004 levy will generate about $16 million over the next five years.
The issue passed 67 percent to 33 percent.
The building was constructed in 1933 as a railroad hub and sat empty for years before briefly being used as a shopping mall. The former train station now houses the Cincinnati Museum of Natural History, the Children's Museum, the Cincinnati Historical Society and an IMAX Theater.
