'Pregnant Burglar' gets prison time

CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19) - A woman who pled guilty to burglarizing several homes in the Hamilton and Cleves area was sentenced to four years in prison on Tuesday.

Samantha Brewer, 26, was about nine months pregnant when the burglaries occurred in April and May. She pled guilty in June to several counts of burglary, attempted burglary and endangering children. She would also take her young son along with her during the crime spree.

In court on Tuesday, Brewer pled guilty to an additional charge of attempted burglary.

Brewer was facing up to 98 years in prison. Judge Melba Marsh handed Brewer a 'split sentence' and told her that she would check on her at some point, and if she was doing well in prison, she could go to a treatment facility to complete her sentence.

Brewer would enter homes and take handfuls of jewelry. She told police she stole the items to help her family. She said she was addicted to prescription medicine and her husband was out of work. She gave birth to a baby girl in June.
