AKRON, Ohio (AP) - Former Akron police captain Douglas Prade has been ordered to jail for the next 30 days while an appellate court decides whether he should receive a new trial in his ex-wife's killing. A Summit County court official says a judge ruled the 68-year-old will be returned to prison if he's not granted a new trial or if the court doesn't decide within 30 days.

AKRON, Ohio (AP) - A judge in Akron disputes claims from prosecutors that she was biased in a death penalty murder case and says she shouldn't be disqualified from presiding at trial. The judge filed a response with the Ohio Supreme Court on Friday to counter prosecutors' claims that she wants them to drop death penalty specifications in the trial of an Akron man accused in the drug-related shooting deaths of four people.

MOUNT BLANCHARD, Ohio (AP) - A school superintendent in northwest Ohio says a kindergarten teacher accused of pushing and grabbing one of her students is expected to resign. The Courier newspaper in Findlay reports Barbara Williams has pleaded not guilty to child endangerment.

WASHINGTON (AP) - Dayton International Airport has been awarded more than $10.2 million in federal transportation funds for repairs to a runway. U.S. Sen. Sherrod Brown announced the funding today. The Ohio Democrat says the money from the U.S. Department of Transportation will be used to preserve the runway's structural integrity and reduce the potential for debris.
