CLERMONT, Ind. (AP) - Tony Schumacher raced to the Top Fuel qualifying lead Friday in the U.S. Nationals with a run of 3.777 seconds at 322.65 mph. Schumacher has nine victories in the NHRA's flagship event. Del Worsham topped the Funny Car field in the regular-season finale, points leader Jason Line took the Pro Stock lead, and Eddie Krawiec was the fastest in Pro Stock Motorcycle.

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. (AP) - Indiana will travel twice to Madison Square Garden in December, taking on national powerhouses Louisville and Georgetown this season. The non-conference schedule also includes home dates against Pittsburgh and SMU. Indiana will open the season Nov. 14 against Mississippi Valley State. In all, the Hoosiers will play 10 of their 13 non-conference games at Assembly Hall.

FONTANA, Calif. (AP) - Will Power has struggled in qualifying for the final race of the IndyCar season, leaving the series leader starting in 21st place when he chases his first championship. Power had the second-worst performance in qualifying, while Team Penske teammate Helio Castroneves won the pole. Castroneves turned a lap with an average speed of 218.540 mph. Power leads teammate Helio Castroneves by 51 points heading into the double-points finale under the lights Saturday.

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (AP) - Sam Saunders shot his second straight 6-under 66 on Friday to take a two-stroke lead in the Hotel Fitness Championship, the Web.com Tour Finals opener. The 27-year-old Saunders, Arnold Palmer's grandson, birdied five of his final seven holes in the second round at Sycamore Hills. Saunders finished 45th on the Web.com Tour's regular-season money list.
