INDIANAPOLIS (AP) - The Indianapolis Colts have claimed center A.Q. Shipley off waivers and started filling out their 10-man practice squad. Shipley played with the Colts in 2012 but was cut by Baltimore on Saturday. He adds depth to an injury-depleted offensive line that was without its top two centers in Thursday night's preseason finale. Indy waived backup center Thomas Austin to make room for Shipley.

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (AP) - Bud Cauley won the Hotel Fitness Championship yesterday to regain his PGA Tour card. He earned $180,000 in the Web.com Tour Finals opener in Fort Wayne. Cauley closed with a 7-under 65 at Sycamore Hills for a one-stroke victory over Colt Knost. He birdied five of the first six holes and finished at 20-under 268.

BROWNSBURG, Ind. (AP) - John Force took home the Traxxas Nitro Shootout victory yesterday. His win in Brownsburg concluded an action packed day of racing at the 60th annual Chevrolet Performance U.S. Nationals. Force earned $100,000 when he beat teammate Robert Hight with a 4.061-second run at 317.19 mph in a Ford Mustang.

ST. LOUIS (AP) - Matt Holliday hit his third home run in two games and broke an eighth-inning tie with a two-run single to rally the St. Louis Cardinals past the Chicago Cubs 9-6 yesterday. Holliday had three hits and four RBIs for the Cardinals. St. Louis second baseman Kolten Wong left in the top of the eighth after falling backward when he tried to catch a popup in short right field.
