Credit Theft Scheme Busted

McLEAN, Va. (AP) - A Virginia airport baggage handler has admitted he stole two-thousand credit cards from undelivered bulk mail.

Emmanuel Osho supervised baggage handling for United Airlines at Dulles Airport outside Washington.

He pleaded guilty yesterday to wire fraud.

He admitted rifling through mail pallets, plucking out envelopes that looked like they contained new or reissued credit cards.

Through a co-conspirator, the cards were distributed to other people up and down the East Coast and used to get fraudulent cash advances.

Federal prosecutors say Osho sold the stolen cards for about $50,000, while banks and credit unions ultimately lost about $4 million. He faces up to 30 years in prison and a $1 million fine when he is sentenced in October.
