FOX19 offers a wide variety of Educational and Informational programming for our younger viewers:

The following programming air on WXIX's Main Channel (19.1)

Animal Atlas – Saturday, 7:00-7:30AM and 7:30-8:00AM (Target Audience – Teens 13-16)

This program explores the world of animal wildlife, promoting a better understanding of how various animal species live and what they need to survive.  With an entertaining narrative, the series combines focused examinations of certain topics such as ‘Animal Appetites’ (which explores the various diets of animals along with information about how animals catch and eat their food, how diets determine their lifestyle, etc.), ‘Animal antics’ (a hilarious look at the crazy physical antics and talents of certain species), ‘Animal Babies’ (an intimate look at babies of various species, how they are born and how they are raised), along with shows that focus solely on particular animals such as elephants, bears and monkeys, showing how they live, what they eat, how they raise their young, and what threatens or supports their survival.  Animal Atlas also promotes responsibility toward wildlife issues and conservation.

 

Jack Hanna’s Animal Adventures – Sunday, 7:30-8:00AM (Target Audience – Teens 13-16)

This program, hosted by noted naturalist Jack Hanna, explores the issues facing the natural world and encourages viewers to appreciate and protect it.  The programs may focus on a particular type of animal, such as deadly snakes, birds or sea creatures.  The series also visits noted wildlife preserves around the world to explore issues and challenges of conservation.

Animal Exploration with Jarod Miller – Sunday, 8:00-8:30AM (Target Audience – Teens 13-16)

In each episode of this show, cameras follow the host Jarod Miller, as he explores the land, sea and air and the great variety of animals which can be found in these many habitats.

Awesome Adventures - Sunday, 8:30-9:00AM (Target Audience - Teens 13-16)

Awesome Adventures focuses on wildlife of the World, noting what animals live in particular regions, and what aspects make each one special.

Whaddyado? – Sunday, 9:00-9:30AM (Target Audience – Teens 13-16)

This show is designed to educate, inform and inspire teens.  Using dramatic reenactment and interviews with participants and experts, the show chronicles real life stories of ordinary teens who found themselves in perilous and challenging situations.  The show explores why and how these young people made the right decisions.  Each show also engages the audience with a ‘moral dilemma’ segment, intended to prepare young people to handle difficult situations and make the right choices.

Green Screen Adventures - Saturday, 10:00-10:30AM (Target Audience - Children 7-13)

The goal of this show is to teach children critical writing skills through improvisation, storytelling and story theatre.

Wimzie's House - Saturday, 10:30-11:00AM (Target Audience - Children 3-5)

The goal of this program is to aid young children in the development of their own identities, to urge children to communicate and form bonds with the people around them, to adopt attitudes and behaviors that nourish a desire to learn new things. 

The Country Mouse and City Mouse Adventures - Saturday, 11:00-11:30AM (Target Audience - Children 4-9)

This show employs the fun and fascinating world-wide jaunts of a pair of mice to present important new learning to children aged 4-9.   The objectives of the program are to assist children in learning such concepts as critical thinking, decision making and problems solving, and to encourage such pro-social behaviors as open-mindedness, courage, initiative and creativity.

Horseland - Saturday, 11:30AM-12:00PM (Target Audience - Children 9-11)

This animated adventure features 4 amazing kids and their horses.  As they strive to become the best competitive riders they can possibly be, the kids and their equine companions must learn to deal with difficult situations and problems that test their honesty, integrity, self-confidence and their friendships.

Liberty's Kids - Saturday, 12:00-12:30PM & 12:30-1:00PM (Target Audience - Children 7-12)

This exciting series thrusts viewers into the dramatic fray of the War of Independence, as seen through the eyes of kids who are working as roving reporters for Benjamin Franklin.  The series is packed with action, while confronting moral decisions head on, using the drama of historical events as the backdrop for the conflicts faced by the young protagonists.
