What started as a rumor last week has been confirmed by the Cincinnati Reds.
Former relief pitcher Jeff Brantley will join hall of fame broadcaster Marty Brennaman in the radio booth for the 2007 baseball season.
Brantley will be in the booth for selected radio broadcasts and will also do some television on FOX Sports Net.
The 43-year-old Brantley spent 14 seasons in the major leagues and pitched for the Reds from 1994 to 1997.
Brantley was most recently on ESPN's nightly baseball show Baseball Tonight.
Brantley is the latest hire in a revamped Reds on Radio booth for next season.
Earlier this month, Reds owner Bob Castellini announced the hiring of Marty's son, Thom Brennaman would join his father in the booth for selected games next season.
Brantley and Brennaman replace Steve Stewart who was the second announcer in the booth for three years. The Reds opted not to resign Stewart and had expressed interest in a former player to occupy the seat next to the elder Brennaman who has been the Reds announcer for 32 years.
We'll carry the Reds announcement live on FOX19.com at four o'clock.
