(OXFORD, OH) -- Oxford Police have solved a rash of car break-ins that have occurred over the past month.
In one theft, a Coach purse containing the victim's credit cards was taken. A short time later, one of the credit cards was used at a local convenience store. The convenience store security video system captured two images -- one of a female using the credit card and the other of a maroon Cadillac the female was driving.
OPD Detectives developed some suspects through the surveillance tape. The female suspect and the maroon Cadillac were located at Island Lake Trailer Park in McGonigle. The female suspect, identified as 19-year-old Emily Seymour, was detained and subsequently charged with numerous crimes.
After obtaining additional information, OPD investigators executed three search warrants, one for the Cadillac and two at residences. During each search, officers located property related to the crime spree. In addition to stolen property, when officers executed a search warrant at a residence at College Corner Pike, they found methamphetamine and marijuana paraphernalia. The other residence searched was at on Island Lake Drive in McGonigle.
This investigation has cleared a total of thirteen separate vehicle break-in offenses, twelve from Oxford and one form Hueston Woods State Park. To date, the value of the recovered items is approximately $9,000.
