FALMOUTH, KY (FOX19) - A school bus crashed in Pendleton County, Ky. on Tuesday with 29 students on board.

It happened just after 4 p.m. on U.S. 27 just south of Falmouth, near the intersection of Robbins Road, when the bus collided with a pick-up truck.

Pendleton County superintendent Bob Yost says the bus was completing its route, dropping off 27 high school students, a middle school student and an elementary school student. One of the students on the bus is pregnant.

Eight of the students and the driver of the pick-up truck were taken to the hospital via ambulance and two students were taken via medical helicopter. However, none of the injuries are considered serious.

"All of them left with non-life threatening injuries and all were stable when they left," said Yost.

Yost says the driver of the school bus was a substitute, filling in for the regular driver. He says she's a "good person" with a solid driving record.

Margaret DeMoss' brother, Matthew, was riding on the bus when the crash happened. She said she couldn't believe her eyes when she arrived on scene.

"When we first heard the crash we was down there," said Demoss. "I heard the tires go screeching up the highway and I heard a clash. Some kids come running off the bus. My brother was holding the back of his neck."

A neighbor says she saw it all, and called 911.

"I didn't want anyone to get hurt. But there are plenty of kids that got hurt. And that's sad," said Barbara Hutchinson.

Pendleton County Sheriff Craig Peoples says the crash remains under investigation.

"Kentucky State Police and accident reconstructionists is here assisting us with the diagramming and the scene investigation," said Peoples.

Peoples said it's likely that charges will not be filed.

The crash reminded the community of a fatal crash in May that killed 16-year-old Pendleton High School student Daniel Wood.

"It's very tragic for the bus accident, even without casualties," said Ronald Felty, a cousin of one of the students involved in Tuesday's crash. "It just scares every one here to death."
