Officials seize real, fake weapons at CVG

CINCINNATI (AP) - Federal officials have seized $14,000 worth of real and imitation weapons that arrived at a Cincinnati-area airport marked as toys.

U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers on Monday seized more than 60 pump-action, 12-gauge shotguns and 177 pistols.

The items arrived at the Cincinnati Northern Kentucky International Airport in Hebron, Ky., from Istanbul, Turkey.

Officials say the shotguns can be used to fire live ammunition and don't have proper permits to enter the United States. They say the pistols fire only blanks but weren't properly marked as imitation firearms.

Customs and Border Protection spokesman Brett Sturgeon says the shipment was addressed to a Kentucky business that is not being identified. No charges have been filed.
