COLUMBUS, Ohio - Mar. 26, 2009 - Two of Ohio's favorite home teams - Bob Evans Restaurants and the Cincinnati Reds - have teamed up for the 2009 season bring to the city, Joe's Cup for Character, the cup for a cause!
Bob Evans Restaurants will donate a portion of proceeds from every cup of coffee sold at participating Cincinnati restaurants starting

Bob Evans Restaurants plans to make a minimum donation of $50,000 to the Joe Nuxhall Character Education Fund. The $50,000 contribution from Bob Evans will help underwrite expenses for the "Reds Rookie Success League - Butler County," a free, noncompetitive, coed summer youth baseball program that is a collaboration between the Joe Nuxhall Character Education Fund and the Reds Community Fund, hosted at Waterworks Park in Fairfield, Ohio.
"We are so excited about our partnership with the Reds this season and to once again partner with the Joe Nuxhall Character Education Fund," says Mike Agee, vice president of marketing for Bob Evans Restaurants. "Joe will always be a member of the Bob Evans family and we could not be more excited to help raise money for an organization he believed so deeply in."
Reds fans at Great American Ball Park will be able to help in the cause as Bob Evans Signature Coffee will be the "official coffee of the Cincinnati Reds" and will be available all season, with a portion of proceeds of those cups sold going to the Character Education Fund.
Tumbler coffee mugs with the Bob Evans Restaurants and Cincinnati Reds logo will also be available for $9.95 at those participating restaurants - with a portion of those proceeds will go to the cause as well.
As frequent diners at the Fairfield location, the Nuxhalls have always been like family to the Bob Evans team. In 2005 Bob Evans began working with Joe and his son, Kim in an effort to help raise awareness and money for the Joe Nuxhall Character Education Fund. In addition to helping host the widely attended "Character Creates Winners" rally, Cincinnati area Bob Evans Restaurants sold wristbands embossed with Joe's famous quote "Rounding Third and Heading for Home," to benefit Joe Nuxhall's Character Education Fund. Joe's biography was also sold in restaurants that summer with proceeds benefitting JNCEF. Several restaurants hosted book signings so that guests could meet the baseball legend. Nine children were presented with Joe Nuxhall's Character Education Awards and were honored at a special Bob Evans breakfast celebration where Joe spoke about the importance of character.
