Bank robber caught by off- duty cop

ERLANGER, KY (FOX19)-- A suspect is caught by an off-duty officer shortly after he robs a bank on Friday afternoon.

At 5:00pm, Erlanger POlice responded to the Fifth Third Bank located at the 4300 block of Dixie Highway  for a report of a bank robbery.

Police say 46-year-old Foster Haley passed a note to the teller demanding money. After he got the cash, Haley fled the scene.

During the robbery an off-duty Elsmere Police Officer was inside the bank and saw the robbery. He then chased Haley into the parking lot and was able to eventually get control of him until other officers arrived. The off-duty officer received minor injuries during a scuffle with the robber.

Haley was arrested and charged with Robbery and Assault. He is currently being held at the Kenton County Detention Center.
