CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19) - A newspaper in Mississippi is reporting that former University of Cincinnati basketball coach Andy Kennedy will take a plea deal for an incident that happened late last year.

The Northeast Mississippi Daily Journal says Kennedy will plead guilty to a lesser charge on Monday and will not stand trial for assault.

Local cab driver Mohommed Ould Jiddou says Kennedy punched him while shouting racial slurs last December.

Kennedy denied all accusations, but will plead guilty to fourth-degree disorderly conduct to avoid trial.

That cab driver and a witness who claims he saw it all have filed lawsuits against Kennedy. Kennedy and his wife have also sued.

The plea deal will not affect the civil suits.

Kennedy's attorney, Mike Allen, would not confirm or deny a plea deal to FOX19, but he did say that the case will be resolved on Monday.
