Arrest made in Dillsboro apartment fire

DILLSBORO, IN (FOX19)-- A man is arrested after he is accused of setting his apartment on fire early Friday morning.

A short time after 3:00am, the Dillsboro Fire department was called to the 9900 block of State Route 262 in Dillsoboro for a report of a fire.

When crews arrived there were flames coming from the second floor bedroom window. The fire was out within 10 minutes.

Witnesses say that an adult male was rescued from the house by neighbors. They also say that two adults and two children were in the house at the time of the fire.

Damages is estimate to be $100,000 dollars. Fortunately no one was hurt.

Investigators determined that the fire was intentionally set and 40-year-old McCoy David Smith has been charged with Arson under Circumstances to Endanger Human Life. and Arson with a loss of over $5, 000 dollars.

Smith is currently being held at the Dearborn County Law Enforcement Center.
