DEERFIELD TOWNSHIP, OH (FOX19)-- Two cars are damaged after one of them backed into a gas pump, causing a fire Friday afternoon.
Around 1:30pm fire crews were called the Shell Gas Station, located at the 9700 block of Mason Montgomery Road for a report of a fire. When they arrived on the scene, there were two cars engulfed in flames. The fire was put out quickly.
Officials say they determined that a car had backed into a gas pump along with a mother car, causing a spark and a fire. Luckily the pumps at the station automatically shut off and the fire was contained to one area. There was damage to the canopy of the shell Station and the two vehicles were a total loss.
One firefighter was overcome by he and taken to the hospital as a precaution. He is expected to be okay.
