Deters: Firefighter sent driver away from accident scene

CINCINNATI (FOX19) -- Cincinnati firefighter Jeffrey Yount is facing three counts of obstructing justice today after the Hamilton County Prosecutor says that he advised a driver to leave the scene of an accident in 2006.

According to a release from the Prosecutor's office Yount was an eyewitness to an August 26, 2006 hit-skip accident on Queen City Avenue that resulted in serious physical injury to a pedestrian, Christopher Bryant.

Young spoke to the driver and advised him to leave the scene if he had been drinking.  The driver left the scene, while Yount allegedly gave false information to police about the vehicle and the driver.

That driver, Casey Elder, 27, is facing one count of leaving the scene of an accident. He faces the possibility of one year in jail.

An anonymous tip provided to police helped break the case.

If convicted Jeffrey Yount, 39, of West Price Hill, faces four years of incarceration.
