CLIFTON HEIGHTS, OH (FOX19) - Nearly two dozen animals, some neglected, have been taken from a local home.

It happened Monday night in the 2500 block of Vestry.

The SPCA went to a home and found 19 dogs, a cat and three birds.

Apparently neighbors had called for help, saying that house smelled bad.

"We thought maybe one of the dogs was dead, it smelled so foul," said neighbor Alician Ratto. "And when the police actually got in there, I mean the whole smell just wafted toward our building. It was really intense.">

Neighbors say they rarely saw dogs leave the home and were surprised to find out there were so many inside.
