WESTWOOD, OH (FOX19) - A young girl is in critical condition after being hit by a car Thursday afternoon.

It happened around 4:40 p.m. in the 2600 block of Montana Ave.

Witnesses say that the girl had just got off of a Metro bus and was not looking when she was struck by a vehicle. She was not walking inside of a crosswalk.

"Right as she ran across the double yellow, a green car emerged in front of the bus, and you know, pretty much hit her. She came in the path of the car," said witness Edward Austin.

Austin says after the green Saturn Ion hit the child, she fell back into another lane of traffic.

He says she landed under neath a blue Mercury Mariner SUV.

The girl's identity has not been released. She was taken to Children's Hospital

Police are investigating the incident. FOX19 will bring you updated information as it becomes available.
