Funding available for local weatherization projects

CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19) - Rep. Steve Driehaus says $11.1 million in federal stimulus money will  be available for weatherization projects throughout greater Cincinnati.

Driehaus was joined at a press conference Monday by Gwen Robinson, President and CEO of the Cincinnati-Hamilton County Community Action Agency (CAA), Cincinnati City Council-woman Laketa Cole and several other local officials.

The leaders underscored that the funding will not only save and create jobs throughout the First District, but will lead to lasting cost savings and energy efficiency through the weatherization of thousands of low- to moderate-income households.

"This investment in weatherization is another example of how the recovery package is helping to save and create local jobs while supporting projects that help lay the groundwork for future growth in clean energy and infrastructure," said Rep. Driehaus. "

Officials say the funding will make a lasting economic impact through the saving and creation of jobs and increased purchasing from local businesses. It will also allow many Hamilton County families to take advantage of weatherization services at no cost.

Home weatherization can result in a savings of 30 percent or more on energy bills, providing much needed assistance to families struggling during these difficult economic times.
