Florence residents warned against scam

FLORENCE, KY (FOX19) - Florence police are warning residents against a phishing scam.

Police say several Florence residents have received calls in the past 24 hours of an automated message that claims to be First Security Trust Bank.

It will claim that your account has been compromised and give you menu selections.  After a selection is made, you will be asked for your personal bank information.  Caller ID may show an out of state number, or may read First Security Trust Bank.

Police say these messages are a "phishing" scam and do not originate from any bank.

Do not give any bank account information over the phone.  People that have received these calls are being referred to the Federal Trade Commission at 1-877-382-4357 or can go to www.ftc.gov/idtheft.

If you have already given out your personal bank information, contact your bank and local police immediately.
