HAMILTON, OH (FOX19) - A crash in Hamilton has left two people dead.

It happened around 5:40 a.m. Wednesday morning at the intersection of Dixie Highway and Clinton.

Police say a head-on collision between a commercial van and a Rumpke recycling truck killed the drivers of both vehicles.

The driver of the Rumpke truck has been identified as Nathan Lake, 28, of Hamilton. He has been a Rumpke employee since September 2004.

"We are deeply saddened by the loss of an employee," said Larry Stone, Rumpke safety director. "Our heartfelt thoughts and prayers are with the family and friends of both drivers involved."

Police say preliminary investigation reveals that Lake was traveling northbound on Dixie Highway and struck a southbound van driven by Timothy M. Sturm, 32.

Rumpke has a grief counselor on site at the Rumpke Recycling Material Recovery Facility in St. Bernard to offer assistance to Lake's coworkers.

Rumpke officials say they continue to investigate the accident with local authorities to determine the cause.
