Woman shot in Evanston; suspect caught after crash

EVANSTON, OH (FOX19) - Police are investigating a shooting in Evanston that led to the suspect being caught after a crash.

It happened around 9 p.m. Wednesday in the 1500 block of Dana Avenue.

The victim, Siri Burton, is in critical condition. Neighbors say her estranged husband, Matthew, shot her as she got out of her car.

The family says there's a history of domestic violence, and Matthew just got out of prison.

Burton was arrested after police say he crashed on the Ridge Avenue ramp to the Norwood Lateral.

His car hit another car head-on, causing several other vehicles to crash. The driver off one of those vehicles, Kathleen Kinsey, 59, was trapped in her car and suffered serious injuries.

Two off-duty police officers saw what happened and arrested Burton. They were unaware that he was wanted for a shooting.

Burton suffered minor injuries. Police say he was hit by a few cars as he attempted to carjack them.
