Driver takes empty school bus on police chase

GLENWOOD, Ill. (AP) - The driver of an empty school bus was shot by police after leading them on a chase, ramming cars before stopping in the yard of a house in suburban Chicago.

A spokeswoman for Cincinnati-based First Student Transportation Co. says police shot the driver. She identified the driver only as a man who had been with the company since March.

Spokeswoman Glenda Lamont says the driver was supposed to pick up children Friday morning but didn't.

She says the company is still trying to piece together what happened and what led to the chase.
