COVINGTON, KY (FOX19) - A Maineville woman is the winner of a $1 million Powerball ticket sold in Covington.

Janie Herdman matched five numbers but not the Powerball, so she missed out on the $232 million jackpot, but she did win $1 million by choosing the Power Play feature.

The Power Play feature was added on Jan. 4, 2009.

"I started playing Power Play as soon as I found out about it," Janie said.

Janie and her husband, John, watched the nightly drawing Wednesday, May 27 to find they had won the game's second prize.

She purchased her Powerball with Power Play ticket at Gentleman Jim's in Covington.  Gentleman Jim's will receive $10,000 for selling the winning ticket.

The Ohio resident walked out of lottery headquarters with a check for $690,000 after taxes.

Janie and her husband own a construction company and Janie also works for her brother-in-law who owns several banks where they live.  The couple plans to pay off bills, help their daughters and put money away for retirement.  They also plan to purchase some lakefront property in Alabama.
