Suspect leaves suspicious package at bank

EDGEWOOD, KY (FOX19) - Police are investigating a bank robbery in which a suspect left a suspicious package.

It happened just after 10:30 at the 5/3 Bank in the 3000 block of Dixie Highway.

The suspect got away with an undisclosed amount of cash, left something on the counter and indicated to the teller that it was explosive. He then walked out.

The bank was evacuated as employees and customers waited for emergency responders.

The bomb squad was called in and deactivated the object. Police say it looked like an explosive device, but it contained no explosive material.

The suspect is identified as a white male, late 30's to early 40's, about 5-foot-8 and 240 pounds with a goatee and mustache, clearn wire-rimmed glasses and a tattoo on the right side of his neck and a mark under his left eye. He was wearing a black long-sleeve T-shirt, blue jeans and a black hat.
