LAWRENCEBURG, IN (FOX19) - Too much alcohol sends a local man to jail after he tried to sleep it off on a couch that wasn't his.

"He just had too much to drink and didn't know where he was at," said Capt. Doug Taylor with the Lawrenceburg Police Department.

Police say Halden Totten, 22, kicked down a door and passed out on the couch of a stranger's home in Lawrenceburg...twice.

"(The owners) noticed the door had been forced open, in checking found a person on the couch asleep and very much intoxicated," said Taylor.

Police found Totten asleep at in the 100 block of Front Street, but that wasn't his first choice on where to pass out.

"We found that he had also forced open the door next door where people were living at and the male person in that apartment had put him out as being intoxicated," said Taylor. "He was staying about a block further down the street, so he just was too drunk to know where he was at and went to the wrong place."

No one was hurt at either home. Totten is charged with two counts of residential entry and public intoxication.
