LAWRENCEBURG, IN (FOX19) - So long, Argosy. Hello, Hollywood.
The Dearborn County casino closed its doors for good on Sunday night. It will reopen 10 a.m. Friday morning with a new look and a new name - Hollywood Casino.
"They put a lot of hard work into it...the management and everybody and I think they will go a long ways with it," said casino employee Tom Hamilton.
Hamilton is on a four-day break from work at the casino. He says at 11:59 p.m. on Sunday night, crews will put the finishing touches on the new and glamorous Hollywood Casino - Lawrenceburg.
"It's a lot bigger than the other boat and it's got one full deck and part of another deck they've got a lot more slot machines and tables," said Hamilton.
According to Argosy's Web site, the new 150,000 square-foot facility will have 90 live table games, 41 live poker tables, 3,200 slot machines, electronic table games, a new VIP lounge, the Celebrity Grille and a new 'Club Hollywood' player's club.
People from all over the Tri-state say they're excited about the move.
"I think it's a nice community. Lawrenceburg has made some nice improvements in the past five to ten years, whether it's related to Argosy or Hollywood, I don't know but it's is a very nice community," said Randy Hinton, a Lawrenceburg visitor.
"I just think it's probably great for Lawrenceburg itself," added another visitor, Lisa Hinton. "I know the school district benefits from it and I know that it brings a lot of people to Lawrenceburg, I know that."
