New retail space going up in Corryville

CORRYVILLE, OH (FOX19) - There is some good economic news coming out of the Tri-State. A new retail space is going up in Corryville.

This empty space at the corner of Martin Luther King and Vine Street will one day been known as Corryville Crossing.

The anchor to this entire project is a Hampton Inn and Suites Hotel. It'll have 132 rooms and below it will be a 219-spot public parking garage. There is also space for three shops or restaurants to open up as well, though no one has officially signed on just yet.

The $24 million project is expected to create 400 jobs.

City officials say this will be key to the revitalization of Short Vine, the entertainment district near UC that has gone down recently.

The developer is Burgess Doan, who joins city leaders for the groundbreaking on Thursday morning.
