Update: Fatal accident in St. Bernard

ST. BERNARD, OH (FOX19) - Two people are dead after an accident in St. Bernard.

It happened just after 11:30 a.m. at East Mitchell and Vine.

Police say witnesses observed Lula Crawford, 60, speeding before she crashed into Lyunda Kilgore, 39. There were no passengers in either car.

Both cars ended up wrapped around two different poles.

"I heard the loud squeal of the tires and then I heard two big booms," says witness Chris Bellomo. "I was dozing off, and the sound from the impact woke us up."

Crawford died at the scene and Kilgore died at the hospital after being extricated from the vehicle.

The investigation in ongoing. Initially, there was a concern for possible road rage, but Crawford's family says she had a history of diabetes, and they believe that may be the reason for the crash. They said she was in a similar accident last year.

"When she got into that accident, we were scared then. She'd had to have surgery on her leg, and she was hurt she bounced back, she was alright, but I mean, she was hard headed though. That's what I always said, she was hard headed," says great niece Tawana Crawford.

The road was partially opened by 4:15 p.m. and Duke Energy was on the scene for several more hours to repair the damage.
