CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19) - Amanda Surrett is accused of taking her 5-year-old daughter away from her ex-boyfriend, the girl's father, while the girl was visiting him in Alabama.

Brandon Cooke, the father, filed for custody in Alabama. In Hamilton County, where Amanda lives, police informed her of the custody order and she refused to give up her daughter. Police then found out that the mother hid her daughter in Indiana, which became a felony.

Early Thursday morning, while she was in jail, Amanda tearfully decided to comply with court orders to disclose where her five year old daughter, Abigail, was. By early afternoon, Colerain Township police had already located her in Indiana.

According to Officer Andrew Demeropolis, " We went to the police station in Aurora where she was sitting eating cereal drinking a pop."

The little girl who police say was in fine shape and happy was taken by car into the custody of 241-KIDS until her father  could come get her from Alabama.

"The child is safe that's all we care about . Now the courts will decide who's the custodial parent, I don't know who's going to win that battle."
