DELHI TOWNSHIP, OH (FOX19) - A memorial honoring a fallen local marine was unveiled Friday in Delhi Township.

Marine Cpl. Timothy Roos was killed in action a few years ago. He was remembered Friday during a special service.

Roos was a Delhi native and graduate of Oak Hills High School.

He was killed while serving with his Marine unit on July 27, 2006, just days after his daughter was born.

Friday, his now 3-year-old daughter Annaliese, wife Sara, and parents, Jan and Rick Roos were presented with a hand-painted portrait to honor the fallen hero.

The American Fallen Soldiers Project is a national, non-profit organization that memorializes soldiers killed in Iraq and Afghanistan. The artist, Phil Taylor, lives in Texas and randomly selected Roos for the project.

The ceremony is sponsored by the Delhi Veterans Association.
