CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19) - Four Cincinnati fire companies will be shut down in September due to budget cuts.
The Cincinnati City Council and the city manager's office have been asking all city departments to cut their budget due to a $28 million budget shortfall.
Despite shutting down the four companies, no firefighters will lose their jobs, but 16 firefighters will be affected.
The firefighter's union says the move could save $2 million, but response times could be affected. Fire officials have not yet said which companies will close.
The cuts are expected to last until at least the end of the year.
