CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19) - Another big step in the Banks project took place while you were sleeping on Tuesday morning.

Crews began pouring the final road surface for Freedom Way East at 3 a.m. Tuesday morning.

Freedom Way East will serve as the main street through the Banks and will be open to public when construction on the retail and residential components of The Banks Phase 1A are complete.

The process was significantly different from previous concrete pours in that the contractor placed and finished the concrete using a Bidwell machine. The Bidwell machine allows the concrete to be placed and finished at different grades and slopes with only one set-up, which is more efficient and cost-effective.

Approximately 350 cubic yards of concrete were poured in a five-hour period.
