COVINGTON, KY (FOX19) - A backyard party in Covington ends in bloodshed and six arrests.

Theresa Principata is one of what they're calling the 'Covington Six,' a group of friends and co-workers who face a multitude of charges from assault on a police officer to public intoxication to disorderly conduct.

Principata's version of events after police arrived is quite different than those of police union president Chris Ganguish.

"One of the individuals began cursing at the officer," said Ganguish. "When they attempted to arrest the individual for disorderly conduct he became combative...one of the officers ended up on the ground he was kicked time and time again in the stomach."

"Mr. Gonzalez is Hispanic. I can't even repeat what they said to him," said Principata.

Ganguish says he was one of the officers called to the scene when the officers first on the scene asked for assistance.

Principata says the party goers were the ones who were kicked and punched. Aglisberto Gonzalez has a bruised eye in his mug shot.

"What happened to Mr. Gonzalez was unfair and unright and we demand justice," said Principata.

"The facts aren't going to change," said Ganguish. "The facts are that the officers were assaulted and people were charged with anything from resisting arrest disorderly conduct, alcohol intoxication to felonious assault on a police officer."

Even before the case has gone to court, the code enforcement office in Covington sent a certified letter calling the award-winning house a place of nuisance and threatening that if any other police charges are filed there, the owner could lose the home he rebuilt.

The six defendants will go before a judge next week. They're planning a march from Greenup street to the courthouse on that day.

Covington Police officers say they're confident their charges will hold up in court.
