RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) -  A new Richmond- based website can help expectant moms save big on maternity clothes.  And women who've already had their bundles of joy can expect bundles of cash for their used clothing.

When Farah Hottle was pregnant she was surprised at the lack of resources for expectant moms to find affordable maternity clothes.

"It just didn't seem logical to me to spend hundreds even thousands of dollars on clothes that you wear for such a brief moment," Hottle said.

So earlier this year she launched www.emommie.com, a website devoted to two things: maternity clothes and great deals.

"You'll save at least 50% off what you would pay for an individual item new, at least," she said.

The average price of a garment on emommie is $15 and we found some that still had tags on them.

"You can schedule an in office pick-up so you don't have to pay for shipping if you're local here to Richmond," she said.

And local moms can cash in on their own  maternity clothes.

"I had a lot of maternity clothes that were just sitting around," said Amy McCann, who never thought she could cash in on the 3 year old box of maternity clothes in her attic.

"I had written it off," she said.  But she walked out with over $70 in her pocket.

"Here, you bring it in and it's either off your hands or it's not.  If it's not my next stop is goodwill."

The process is simple.  You start by making an appointment to sell.

"Moms bring the clothes here to our office, they can drop them off or they can wait for a couple of minutes and get a quote," Hottle said.

Each item is individually priced based on brand, condition, and age of the garment.  Then emommie makes you a cash offer for your clothes.

"Jeans and dresses are especially popular, expectant moms are always looking for a nice, comfortable, good pair of jeans," she said.
