The centerpiece of FOX19's High School Football initiative is a 30 minute weekly high school sports show, FOX19 Time Warner Cable Friday Prep Rally, designed to spotlight the best players, hottest teams and most talked about rivalries in town.
"This is not just another ‘x's and o's' show," says FOX News Director Steven Ackermann. "It's an in-depth look inside these great local programs - the players, the coaches, the schools and the traditions that make these teams so successful."
FOX19 Time Warner Cable Friday Prep Rally will air Friday evenings at 6:30pm.
FOX19 Time Warner Cable Friday Prep Rally premieres on August 28 as Wyoming welcomes Cincinnati Hills Christian Academy. The series continues each Friday through the end of October and features top teams from both Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky including Kentucky State runner up Simon Kenton, Ohio State runner up Elder, and Ohio State runner up Anderson. The season finale on October 30 will feature Middletown at Princeton.
Hosted live from the home field by FOX19 Sports Director Brian Giesenschlag and Sports Reporter Zach Wells, each FOX19 Time Warner Cable Friday Prep Rally will include a roundup previewing the big matchups across the Tri-State and an in-depth preview of the featured game of the week. Regular features will also include exclusive interviews with the coaches of the featured game and profiles of key players from each team. FOX19's partner, Tri-State Sports.com will provide statistical analysis of each week's featured game. FOX19 Time Warner Cable Friday Prep Rally will also extend coverage to the entire student community with a report on a prominent non-athletic program at each featured school. FOX19's Executive Sports Producer Ron Millennor will produce the program.
"This will be a live event that is about more than football. It is about the passion and preparation the entire student body has leading up to game night," said Millennor.
The FOX19 Time Warner Cable Friday Prep Rally theme will encompass the entire broadcast day beginning with FOX19 Morning News. FOX19 Meteorologist Frank Marzullo will travel to the visiting school each Friday morning featuring interviews with the coach and a close up look at the team and what they are doing to get ready for the match up.
"Each week it will something different as we are encouraging the schools to show us their spirit," says Ackermann. "We're looking for pep rallies, live band performances and whatever else the schools come up with. You can count on a real show of pride."The FOX19 Time Warner Cable Friday Prep Rally will wrap each week with complete gridiron updates along with exclusive post game interviews during FOX19 Final Quarter airing Friday at 10:45 following FOX19 Ten o'clock News.
"If you want to know something about high school football in the Tri-State on a Friday, we will be your undisputed source. This is a first in Cincinnati, a multi-platform program larger than any other ever attempted locally," says Lanesey. "By design FOX19 Time Warner Cable Friday Prep Rally is more than a single show or feature; is it a celebration of the best and brightest local high school players and programs in the Tri-State. We are dedicated to showcasing those talents and each Friday we will attempt to capture the excitement these kids experience each time they step on the field."
