President to make Labor Day visit

By Roger Seay - email

CINCINNATI (FOX19) - The White House has confirmed that President Barack Obama will visit Cincinnati on Labor Day.

The Sept. 7 visit coincides with the annual AFL-CIO picnic at Coney Island.

Hamilton County Democratic Party Chairman Tim Burke says union members were part of the base that helped elect Obama and need to be rallied to get on board with his health plan.

Local GOP Chairman Alex Triantafilou says Obama is trying to sell a program Americans don't want and is helping the Republican cause, even in the GOP stronghold of southwest Ohio.

The visit will be Obama's first to Cincinnati as president.

More information is expected to be released by the White House next week.
