MADEIRA, OH (FOX19) - Southbound I-71 in Sycamore Township was closed early Friday morning because of a head-on crash.

It happened about 3 a.m. at the Kenwood cut-in-the-hill.

Police say Erin Gray, 27, of Newport, was operating her Nissan Frontier the wrong way on the interstate when she collided head-on with a Jeep Wrangler.

Gray was taken to the hospital in serious but stable condition. Two passengers in the Jeep, Amanda French, 18, of Ameila, and Matthew Lang, 24, of Norwood, were also taken to the hospital with serious injuries. French is listed in stable condition and Lang is listed in serious condition.

A helicopter was requested to fly to the scene, but was unable to come due to low visibility.

Police say everyone was wearing seatbelts, and alcohol and/or drugs are believed to be factors in the crash.

The interstate was closed for about two hours while police cleaned up the crash.
