FRANKLIN, OH (FOX19) - A Franklin, Ohio man is behind bars after police say he threatened several juveniles with a gun.

Howard Schamel, 62, faces three counts of felonious assault and one count of using a weapon while intoxicated.

The incident happened around 10 p.m. Monday night in the back lot of Gerke Elementary School. Police say it all started when the juveniles threw an item into Schamel's yard, and a verbal altercation ensued, with the juveniles on one side of a six foot privacy fence and Schamel in his back yard. Police say Schamel, who had been drinking, got two handguns from his house, got into his vehicle, and  confronted the teens with the gun.

One of the teens called 911 and another verbal altercation ensued until police arrived. Schamel was given commands to get out of his car and he was taken into custody without incident. Police recovered two loaded semi-automatic handguns in his vehicle.

Schamel is being held in the Warren County Jail on a $155,000 bond. Police say further charges may be pending.
